Target Practice

An immutable law of target shooting is that one needs targets at which to shoot, a fact I became deftly aware of today as I arrived at the shooting range and discovered that I had left the folder containing all of my targets at home on the table.

Enter my range box. Clearly this won’t be a part of my primitive kit but it serves a useful purpose when I head to the range. The problem is that the folder wouldn’t fit in along with all the rest of my necessaries.

The solution, however, dawned on me this afternoon as I drove home from the range mumbling to myself. The back of my range box is perfectly sized for something folder like. A few weeks back I had the idea to attach some webbing and make a sort of basket to hold a loose folder, but this afternoon I came up with a better idea. So, I headed straight to Walmart to pick up supplies.

  • Plastic Divided File Folder
  • Rivet Gun
  • Rivets

I’ve attached the Folder/Divider to the back of the range box with rivets at the four corners. Now, my targets can stay with the rest of my gear, thus lessening the opportunity for me to forget them. Feel free to use this hack yourself if your situation allows.

  1. Comments are still slightly borked for the time being. I can now get all the comment text, but any paragraph formatting is lost. Please comment as normal, and I'll keep working to get things straightened out.
