Wire Managment

So, the latest thing I’m trying to work out is how to manage the dozen or two cables coming out of the back of the server rack, and here’s what I’ve come up with:

Wire Management

I’ve ordered some spiral cable wrap from McMaster Carr to bundle the “wires galore” into a single entity, then I’ll use a bungee cord attached to an eyebolt I screw into the wall behind the cabinet to hopefully help manage the cables when I pull the cabinet in and out of the nook. It’s the best solution I’ve come up with, so hopefull it’ll work.

Once I get it set up tomorrow night I’ll take some pictures.

  1. Comments are still slightly borked for the time being. I can now get all the comment text, but any paragraph formatting is lost. Please comment as normal, and I'll keep working to get things straightened out.
  1. Yeah, putting some order into a "messed up" wire installation is pretty nightmarish. You're pretty lucky to only have a dozen cables (Uh, only a dozen?); I'm stuck with approximately 200 of them that are all tangled up. Ok, it's not catastrophic yet, but we'll get there eventually! Do post some before / after picture when you're done! It might get me to move my behind and do the same thing as you did ;)
