Almost There
Mike found some time and came back tonight to work on the deck. We finished the steps and got all of the posts set, but we haven’t started the railing yet. The dark caught up with us as did the rain.
Even with everything going so well, we had a sort of happy accident with the large posts reminiscent of the curtains for the living room windows. Somehow, Mike missed the length measurement and the center post is nearly six inches taller than the other two posts. It looks really good, with the only complaint being that the three cross-membered posts now resemble the Crosses on Calvary or the masts of a ship. I think the hanging baskets will dull the resemblance, but still… I’ll chuckle at least to myself when I see it.
I had to make one more run to Home Depot, but I think that should do it for deck related expenses. Although, I did back into the mailbox when I got back tonight, so along with bolting all of the posts Saturday morning, I’ll be installing a new mailbox (that I’m planning to custom paint). I’ve been planning a new mailbox anyway, so no big deal.

Here are some pictures. I was too beat last night, and it had gotten too dark to photograph the big posts anyway. Enjoy.
