Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda

Mom and Dad came up for a short visit this morning. Both were very impressed with the work I’ve done since they were here last (10/05). Mom was especially taken by the kraft papered walls in my office. She asked if I’d mind her using the technique in her living room. Of course I said she was free to do so—I’ll even provide the kraft paper.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, isn’t it?

Oh… and while I had the camera out, I snapped a shot of the curtains.

The color balance makes them look a little more yellow in the picture. For $30 to cover a sliding glass door, I think it was a great solution.

  1. Comments are still slightly borked for the time being. I can now get all the comment text, but any paragraph formatting is lost. Please comment as normal, and I'll keep working to get things straightened out.
  1. Wow! This looks FANTASTIC! No wonder your parents were impressed. I love, love craft paper. Wasn't this very time consuming though? How are you attaching it?
  2. The kraft paper on the walls is the easiest thing I've ever done. Here's the original post where I did it back in May. It really is as simple as spreading the paste on the wall with your hands then positioning the paper and then going back over the paper with more paste. Save your straight edged pieces for jointing to the ceiling or another wall. You CAN'T mess it up.
  3. Hmmmm... wonder if they even have craft paper here in Morocco. No Home Depot here. Has your Mom started her project yet?
  4. Mom's currently dealing with my Dad and his bum back, so no, she hasn't yet started. She did pass the idea on to a cousin who had some interesting ideas... different colors, textures with different typs of paper... I suggested trying to paint over the paper if brown wasn't her thing. Not sure what she's planning to do, but she seemed as intrigued as anyone who's seen the finished product.
