It’s a good thing they’re samples, because I’m not really happy with either of them.

The one on the right is one of the two I picked up yesterday during lunch. After putting up one, I didn’t think the other would be any better. This morning I went back and got a color called “Chocolate Turtle.” I’m no happier with it. It’s too red, almost like copper (it looks better in the picture than it appears in the room). I’ll go back to Lowe’s in the morning and try again. Hopefully the third time will be the charm.

In the meantime, I’ve put a few coats of polyurethane on the MDF work table top in order to protect it. MDF has a tendency to “bloom” when it comes in contact with water… I’ve already gotten a few drops on it, and rather than treat it like a Ming vase, I figured some poly would allow me to really use it without worrying about it. It looks pretty sharp. I should have done it right after I brought it home. I’ll know better next time.
