DIY Wooden Doormat

Dear Ol’ Martha has a set of instructions on her website for making this rather appealing looking doormat.

I think the rougher the wood, the better as the roughness will help to remove whatever is on the bottom of your shoes. You could even do some nifty artwork on something like this with varying shades of stain.

  1. Comments are still slightly borked for the time being. I can now get all the comment text, but any paragraph formatting is lost. Please comment as normal, and I'll keep working to get things straightened out.
  1. oooo! Cool! Will have to put on my list of things-I-want-desperately-to-make-but-not-enough-to-buy-the-materials! Seriously though. Love it!
  2. Hi there! I too am digging myself into the Martha DIY quagmire. Last month I found directions to create her sisal doormat edged with broom heads located here: Making a Doormat with Tom But I will also "personalize" the sisal doormat by adding our street number using these instructions: Custom Doormat I'm waiting to make the doormat until after we have a porch covering our front door - or maybe I'll make it and bring it in for winter... If you want another Marta idea, try her keyracks. I've made one of her keyracks (she offers 2 designs) - but I modified it to fit the space in my mudroom. You can find the links at my web site. I discussed them in two different entries. Happy Marthaing!
  3. Awesome links, Andrea! I've cleaned them up a little... I hope you don't mind. I saw your post about the key rack some time ago and thought it'd be a nice little project. Then I realized that with only one set of keys, a rack is kind of pointless for me.
  4. i love it!! it's very zen, i thought...or missionary - either one :D
