I made some sketches of eyes this afternoon at the office and when I got home, I went straight to work. They turned out better than I expected, though I’m not sure if I’m completely happy with them. At this point I’m calling them done.

I’m still on the fence about a mouth.

Even if I decide not to do a mouth, there’s still a few things to finish up. I need to go over a few spots with a second or third layer of paper and then smooth out a couple of wrinkled rough areas around the eyes.

I really like this medium. It’s the first time I’ve sculpted anything where I felt reasonably comfortable. I think it’s because it’s an additive style… as in, I’m not removing material to get to the finished product. If something doesn’t work, it’s easy enough to pull it off and try again (the eyes took three drafts before I was content with what I had).
