Coltrane is God

I’ve been a Coltrane fan for many years, even going by the screen name “tranefan” for quite awhile during the late 90’s. At last count, my Coltrane CD collection numbered around 70 or so, but when I moved to Richmond my apartment was so utterly small that I didn’t have the room to put out my CD collection, and besides, I really couldn’t play them in the apartment anyway… the walls were much too thin for the volume at which I like to listen. For me, listening to music—especially John Coltrane—is a very active endeavor. I’m not like most people in that I don’t like music in the background while I’m working.

So the CD’s sat in a few file boxes in a closet for the last six years.

Hard drive space costing what it does, I recently I started the long process of digitizing all of my CD’s. Which means I found my friend, John, again.

Right this second I’m listening to The Complete Prestige Recordings and I’m blown away by how much I’ve missed him.
