The Moon is Done

I’ve finished Jane’s moonface, and for all my griping, I’m extremely pleased with the result. I made a first draft of the mouth Thursday night that was really bugging me, so yesterday I cut the majority of it off and remade it in its final form. I like the mouth better on this piece than Norman.

During my last trip to Michael’s I found a product made by Design Master called “Master Shine.” I picked up a can of it to try and you can see the results in the pictures. I really, really like the look. It dries incredibly fast and goes on very easily. I don’t think I’ll use it on everything, but it’s another option that can add to the final impact of a piece.

I’m looking forward to giving this to Jane. She knows it’s coming, but she’ll still be incredibly surprised. Hopefully we’ll get together sooner than later.

  1. Comments are still slightly borked for the time being. I can now get all the comment text, but any paragraph formatting is lost. Please comment as normal, and I'll keep working to get things straightened out.
  1. Go Norman!
  2. Great job! They are each unique. Like the circles in the new one.
  3. Since I anticipated seeing Jane sometime this week, I took the Moonface to the office just in case we made plans to get together one day after work. After spending more time with him, I'm really, really sad to see him go. As much trouble as I felt like it gave me, in the end I think it turned out pretty damn good.
  4. wow. i love it - awesome!! very professional, too.
  5. That moon looks great will you make me one? Just kidding seems like you probably are just into the one off pieces. It is cool to see that you have taken the idea of paper mache as far as you have. Good job.
