Casa Hartman

My house has been known as Casa Hartman since before I even saw this particular house. It was how Ginny & I referred to the final result of the house hunting process I began in June of 2005. Ginny, as you’ll gather, is one half of a couple of friends who have both been a huge help. From the moving in, to moral support, to hard work and elbow grease, David & Ginny have made this process a whole lot more fun.

Casa Hartman is a 1981-vintage “Contemporary Lodge” (my coinage). Really, it’s just a little cookie-cutter house in a very well established, yet small development. It has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, an eat in kitchen, and more decks than any house this size has a right to under normal considerations (that includes the one I added in July of 2007). The house sits on a small wooded lot, and the view off the back deck is what sold me. Even with only a quarter-acre to call my own, the house feels like it’s tucked out of the way. During the spring and summer, you can hardly see the neighbors’ houses.

I’m not especially handy, but I manage not to make too many mistakes. So far the projects have been relatively straight forward and as I mentioned before, I have reinforcements to call for when things get beyond my comfort zone.

As for the life I lead when I’m not working on my home, I’m a single guy in my thirties who works as the operations manager for a growing industrial supply company. Computers occupy a lot of my time, as do cameras, and a myriad of other creative pursuits. I’m also a freelance graphic designer who has had brief brushes with national exposure while working with a diverse list of clients.

I enjoy the creative process and I’m always happy to talk about what I’ve done.
